When a long time friend and avid NASA racer came to us with the idea of sponsoring his E36 track car we couldn’t say no. So in short order this 328is turned “M3″ race car was delivered to the shop on a flat bed ready to be stripped of it’s previous pseudo sponsor and have our vinyl applied. Like with our truck and trailer rig, we got to work designing , producing, and installing the graphics all in house. We think the addition of our silver and black vinyl works well with the existing orange vinyl. We can’t wait to start providing replacement and support parts as well as developing a few of our own. Look for this bimmer to be tearing around at a track near you this summer.

In an effort to constantly keep moving forward and developing new products for the most current generations we have recently acquired a 2012 Jetta TDI as a test mule. This toffee colored oil burner is going to see quite a few upgrades over the coming months so that we can gain as much experience as possible with one of VW’s highest selling platforms. First and foremost we will be developing an affordable coilover kit in conjuction with JOM.de that will be available in the near future. This will be very similar to the already available MK6 GTI kits, geared for street comfort and cosmetics with the reliability JOM is known for. Once we have the coilovers dialed in we will be removing them to install an air ride set up in the cavernous trunk. The install will showcase our ability to complete a clean and creative set up with visual interest.

Further enhancing the looks of this TDI we will be adding genuine OEM GLI body parts including: front and rear bumpers, grilles, foglights, lower door blades, and trunk spoiler. Additionally we have plans to offer a production version of the Jetta GLI badgeless grille- another development for the future.

In the performance department we look forward to installing the latest APR software which they have been diligently working on over the last few months. While it is not quite finished we understand it is very close to release. We will shortly be loading a beta file and plan to have performance and dyno figures to outline this diesel’s progress. Further engine modifications will include a custom exhaust as well as a Carbonio cold air intake.

Lastly but not least we have some big plans for the rollers on this project but those details will remain under wraps and included in future updates. In the meantime here are a few shots of how we received the car and some of the work that has been completed so far. Enjoy

On the way back from from our lunch break we pulled into the parking lot to see a gorgeous example of a Jetta SportWagen sitting there all alone out front of the shop. While gawking at some of the details of the car we ran into the owner as he was leaving. Turns out he was in to have his KW V1 coils spun down a bit more, an inevitability when it’s an option. After a quick conversation it didn’t take long for us to convince Captain J. Ganal to let us snap a few pictures of this oil burner.

Truth be told there’s nothing really crazy going on with this car- it’s just clean and simple, the way we like. The aftermarket LED projector headlights are the most complex thing on this Wagen but those definitely help to give an even more aggressive and menacing appearance while still maintaining an OEM quality. The smooth and subtle Votex body kit visually brings the car closer to the ground, while the ever present but still stylish Gunmetal Rotiform BLQ wheels contrast nicely with the Candy white paint.

Rounding out the series of understated modifications Captain Ganal added OEM R Line black mirror caps, clear corner marker, OEM Stainless steel exhaust tips, OEM foglights- and for that touch of flare some yellow Lamin-X on top. As with most builds this car definitely reflects the personality of the owner. While we did not contribute directly in building this car, it was still a pleasure having the opportuninty to talk with a fellow enthusiast, and a generally nice guy.

It’s been our experience that finding a reliable clutch manufacturer is not always the easiest thing to do. Having a kit be “hit or miss” is not ideal for us as a retailer, nor is it something that we want for our customers. In light of this, we have sought out what in our opinion is a supplier who is able to meet our needs and offer us exactly what we, and ultimately our market wants in a clutch kit – reliability, performance, and value. Competition Clutch was able to provide us with specifically what we asked for, including a soon to be available exclusive new billet 020 flywheel.

The materials used are tried and true, with a no frills approach. Competition Clutch does not use gimmicks, and they are already a well established name in the import performance industry. With lines and worlds blurring together, and expansion into the European side of things was a natural progression, and one we are looking forward to further cultivating. You read it right. We’ve had enough and we just can’t take it any longer. It’s that time again- the time where we receive a HUGE container from none other than everyone’s favorite place- Germany! First off , these ultra rare tail lights- often referred to as the UK Post tail lights are in many people’s opinion the “just right” size for the MK1 golf / rabbit. These are shorter than the late style Rabbit GTI lights , but longer than the early rabbit / cabriolet tail lights. If the clear isn’t your cup of tea, just add a bit of Lamin-X or maybe all read tint and you’ll have one of the sexiest and most unique options around. These will require some custom installation and wiring.

JOM B7 A4/S4 Smoked LED Taillights

Not very many people know that Black Forest Industries started life catering to cars with a roundel rather than a VW or ring badge on them, but it’s true. Two of the three current owners first got sucked into the aftermarket scene by heavily modifying their E30, and E34 daily drivers. After a few years of difficulty sourcing hard to find European parts the idea of taking the task on as a formal company was hatched. By 2001 Black Forest Industries was importing a variety of German based parts, most notably Rieger Tuning body accessories, and distributing them in the U.S. solely as a virtual entity. After some personnel restructuring the company grew roots and opened a brick and mortar location run by four total partners with a definitive focus on VW / Audi aftermarket. To this day Black Forest Industries’ main focus has been on the V.A.G brand, however the time has come for Black Forest Industries to make a return to it’s roots.

Customer’s E46

This photo (taken by Kevin Allen) was from an autocross event that was organized at an abandoned airport. The turnout consisted of a large variety of cars- mostly German manufacturers. This was the beginning of the transition into our VW / Audi focus and the current owners of Black Forest Industries. While we have been away from the motorsport arena for quite some time we are looking forward to getting involved again with the local chapters and participating more regularly with both BMW and VW/ Audi vehicles.

Soon after purchasing this MK3 the need for upgraded engine mounts was readily apparent. After a bit of trial and error , and drawing on suppliers from former employment we were able to launch our now ubiquitous line of MK3 engine mounts. Still to this day these are one our best selling products, and a product we credit with putting us on the tuning map. Our line of mounts is continually expanding and we are looking to filling out Audi and BMW fitments in the not too distant future.

As we continued to grow, our obsession with rare and different wheels led us to trying as many new things as we could, including this set of custom built Kodiak Racing Wheels on our MK4 test-bed vehicle. Our hands on experience gave us great insight not only for helping customers stay informed, but also for making product line decisions about the growing aftermarket. To this day we are still one of the best sources for rare and hard to find wheel accessories. Many of our current customers are already BMW owners- and soon we will have more specific BMW product offerings listed on the web-store as we expand.

We are now in an 11,000 sq ft location where we can comfortably service and upgrade vehicles, as well as stock a significant amount of replacement and performance parts for your vehicle. We have multiple full time technicians who were dealer trained and have extensive knowledge of both VW / Audi and BMW. As well, we have recently hired a service advisor with 16 years of experience to provide the level of service our customers expect. Our facilities are spacious and comfortable, and we offer internet access, refreshments and all the conversation our customers require.

To ensure we are able to offer the best service we are equipped with one of the best names in diagnostic software- Autologic. This high end communication device allows us to talk with your vehicle as if you were at the dealership, only for a fraction of the cost to you.
