No Ones Gonna Know

What started as a crazy idea quickly snowballed into a weekend project for our first ever voyage to Bimmer Invasion in West Palm Beach. We were all set for the event, everything was packed and shipped to Urotuning (who helped us stage our booth for Bimmer Invasion). Just as we were getting ready to to hit the road (or take a flight) to Tampa Bay, we found out that our planned booth car wasnt going to be able to make the show. What do we do? We figured we had already rented a BMW X5 to haul all the booth gear, why not put some wheels, graphics and a roof box and make it the booth vehicle as well? Sure, why not.

The starting line. We picked up this 2026 BMW X5 x40i M-Sport at 9:30 AM Friday Morning In Tampa, and we had less than 24 hours to add Rotiform wheels and tires, vehicle graphics, Thule cross bars and a Thule Ascent 1600 roof box. Oh, and fully pack the X5 to the brim with our luggage and an entire booth setup for Bimmer Invasion, then drive 3.5 hours across Florida to West Palm Beach. No sweat. The Rotifom GRZ Wheels were the perfect choice for this project, Giving the G05 an OEM plus look. The Alpina vibes are unmistakeable and they make the X5 look the way it should. 22" x 10 et35 are the perfect fitment, along with 285/35/22 Advanta HPZ tires made a great combo for cruising across florida. 

At home in Alligator Alley or West Palm Beach, this rental BMW X5 X40i M-Sport was a jack of all trades. Good at almost everything, and quite the looker at the same time. 

The sign of success on a choice of modification (or purchase of a new car) is that you can't keep your self from sneaking looks at it. We kept going back again and again, having a peek a these wheels, we just couldn't get enough.

While we didn't get alot of rollers for this project, this thing looks as good moving as it does sitting still. We are officially fans of the G05 platform (even the LCI).

Like others, one of our biggest complaints about the MK8 DSG interior is the "chicken nugget" shift selector. We couldn't leave it alone so here is a sneak peak at our upcoming MK8 DSG Shift Selector Knob replacement.  After months of research and development, we found a design that works well with the factory mechanism and adds back that tangible feel of shifting gears with a knob instead of flicking a switch.

We made it and had a great time at our first Bimmer Invasion West Palm Beach. Of course Griots Garage came through with all the products we needed last minute to make the BMW X5 and Rotifom wheels shine their best. We will be back for next year, I wonder what our booth car will be?
