New 2.5l BFI Engine Mount
After a lengthy period of design and testing we are finally proud to announce the release of our complete replacement engine side mount for Mk5 and Mk6 2.5 5 cylinder vehicles. This mount will completely replace your old, tired, hydraulic engine-side motor mount. The weakest of the 3 engine mounts, the passenger side is fluid filled by Volkswagen/Audi to aid in creating a softer, cushier ride. This softness is a detriment to performance and overall longevity as the fluid within the mount can often cause premature failure. We eliminate this possibility by replacing the mount completely with our proprietary bushing and bracket design. Maximizing bushing area to minimize vibration where possible gives our mount the advantage of having the best ride characteristics possible from a urethane bushing mount. Stage 1 with its 65a durometer bushings are geared towards the spirited enthusiast who wants better control over motor movement without the sacrifice of excessive vibrations. Its our recommendation for all 5cyl street cars.
Stage 2 with its 85a durometer bushings are more for the hardcore enthusiast who is more concerned with performance than cabin vibration, it is a great choice for spirited runs and track cars.
Utilizing laser scanning technology - we are the first to offer a solution that gives a factory fit and finish to each mount. All bosses are matched replicas of the stock locations, and all tool clearances and specs are maintained.
We are the first to develop a fully Billet Replacement arm for the 2.5 engine mount application. The use of billet aluminum instead of cast and an increase in minimum thickness creates a mount that is dramatically stronger than the cast stock arm.
Each engine bracket employs a double interlock design. When assembled it doesn't simply rely on the shear strength of the bolts holding it together, it is doubly supported. The inner tubes nest into the recesses of the center portion of the bracket, and the arm is in-turn notched to allow the center portion to nest inside the arm. This double interlock design removes shear stress from the bolts and makes the mount much stronger as a whole. As you can see below - the two pieces "lock" together when mated - and the socket bolts are under assembly tension load:
